Woodstock!

Today in 1969, Woodstock begins. A massive rock festival in Bethel, New York. Woodstock drew such a large crowd the New York State Throughway was closed. So many people arrived it was impossible to control the gate and the concert was declared free to all that came. Some of the performers appearing were Joe Cocker, Jimi Hendrix, Santana, Crosby, Stills and Nash, Country Joe McDonald, & Joan Baez.

Truely a landmark event for the peace movement and the Hippie culture.

You have no idea how many 8 track tapes, discs and now CD's of that turning point in US history that I have worn out.
The sad part is I think we are raight back where we started. If you do not learn from history you are doomed to repeat it!

I thought then (when I was in college), and I STILL think, it would have been a good place for the Army to have had artillery practice, and the Air Force for strafing runs.

That's cold! I may be a conservative republican now but everyone should be allowed to remember kinder days in our country's history.
There is not enough good will today anywhere....especially on these damn blogs. Mine included.
