Today in History

Today in 1977 the infamous “Son of Sam” was arrested in New York City. David Berkowitz terrorized the City of New York for over a year preying mainly on attractive women with long brown hair. Berkowitz claimed demons and a neighbor’s dog named Sam ordered him to do the killings.
And the big surprise---Berkowitz was a postal employee.


In 1981 the body of Adam Walsh was discovered. Adam had been missing for two weeks and his disappearance was national news. Two years later Henry Lee Lucas and Otis Toole were arrested for the crime.
Adams father, John Walsh, became a national spokesman against crime and went on to host the television show “America’s Most Wanted” Since the show debuted in 1988 nearly 1000 fugitives have been brought to justice. Ameica's Most Wanted airs on Friday nights on the Fox network.
