Michael McMullen Softball Tournament. Sept. 8th & 9th

I know I have had this up before and other BLOGs have also been gracious enough to keep it in the spotlight as well.

On September 8th & 9th the members of the Salisbury Fire Department will be hosting the 2nd Annual Michael McMullen Softball Tournament to be held this weekend at the Henry S. Parker Athletic Complex on Naylor Mill Rd.

Mike was a firefighter/paramedic with the Salisbury Fire Dept. and was on duty in Iraq with his National Guard Unit when in December of 2005 the convoy he was ridding in was attacked. In an attempt to save a fellow soldiers life Mike was very seriously injured in a secondary attack. Mike succumbed to his injuries in January 2006.
The fellow soldier he was engaged in protecting survivied.

A paramedic scholarship was set up at Wor-Wic Tech in Mikes good name and honor. The proceeds from these annual softball tourneys go towards the scholarship in order to provide financial assistance to those aspiring to contribute to community service. By attending the tournaments and supporting your favorite team you support the scholarship and the fond memory of Mike McMullen.

I sincerely thank all the other sites that have published & promoted this event. Hope to see you there!

The more the merrier! This is a fantastic cause and with River Fest going on this weekend, people will already be out and about and it would be nice to see them stop by and support their local Fire Fighters. Besides, you've been involved with the Salisbury Fire Department for a million years, you should have it posted. See you there.

Guys,
Wish we knew ahead of time that you guys would both have such an interest in this event.

The Yhate's purposefully neglected to put our copyrights into this artwork. Please, feel free to use the image to accompany a follow up story, or even to promote next years event on your blogs.

It's truly great to see our area bloggers setting aside differences to support such an event in a unified voice.

Thanks for the comments and the nice artwork. I might add that the artwork you provided here is also on the T-shirts being sold at the tournament. I bought mine today. Proceeds fron the shirts go to the scholarship.

It is a pleasure to enter the blogworld and see outgoing and incoming kindness and working together. Many of us agree on the root cause of many of the area's problems.

We can accomplish so much more working together, even though we all will never agree all the time. I do think it is time to team up and prepare ourselves for the 2009 election and maybe some animosity will dissapear. We do need to become united to cure the ill's of this city.

I know I'm very opinionated, however I have been really trying hard of late to go out of my way to make my comments hate free (Thanks YH8). This is the place to be opinionated, not just this blog, all blogs, so here's to disagreeing respectfully and hope it is contagious. Thanks for the positive post~! Peace.....
