Poker Run! Women Supporting Women

July 12th--Redmens Lodge, Clyde Ave Fruitland.

Motorcycle Ride & Poker run for Women Supporting Women. This local organization servicing Maryland, Delaware, and Virginia supports and counsels victims of cancer. This is especially important in our area as for reasons not really known we have one the highest instances of cancer per capita in the entire nation. Much of the focus of Women Supporting Women is on Breast cancer but counseling and information is available are available for most other types of cancer as well.

Being a cancer survivor myself I appreciate the supreme effort of these ladies in their quest for comfort to those who suffer this dreaded disease.
If you like to ride a bike and would like to help this group with their worthwhile cause, please consider riding in the "Poker Run" this Saturday July 12th. The ride is about 80 miles long and takes about three hours beginning and ending at the Redmen Lodge in Fruitland. Scheduled stops include Bucks Store on Dublin Road in Somerset County, Spikes in Princess Anne, and Wicomico Yacht Club. Entry Fee for the run is just $15.00 and includes BBQ chicken supplied by the Redmen. There will be entertainment, 50/50 raffle, and door prizes as well.

Please come out this Saturday and enjoy the ride as well as supporting a worthy cause.

If someone does not ride a motorcycle, but wishes to support the cause, what can they do?
Thanks

I checked with Ms. Jane England of Women Supporting Women and she assured me non-riders are certainly welcome to attend the event at the Red Men Lodge. There will several tables there with merchandise for sale, music will be provided by a DJ, the Red Men will be selling BBQ chicken and of course direct donations are always accepted. Donations can be sent to:

Women Supporting Women
106 Circle Ave, suite 101
Salisbury, MD
21801

Donations are tax deductible. If donating direct, kindly mention this blog so they may have an accounting of how their message is getting out.

WSW has more events in the planning stage and Ms. England has assured me she will forward information as it comes available. Next month is a dinner event with speakers and attendee will receive a Longaberger Basket. Details on that will be posted soon.

Thanks for stopping in and I hope to see you on Saturday.

Joe,
Thank you for giving Women Supporting Women space on your Blog! The Motorcycle Ride of July 12 was our best attended yet! At the event , a few people asked me where the money that we raise goes. It goes directly to breast cancer survivors and their families as education, support, wigs, bras, hats, etc. all FREE to the survivor. Several people said to me, at the event, your group really helped my family when "Mom or Aunt Jane, etc." was diagnosed with breast cancer. That is what we do, and thank you to all the participants and volunteers at our 4th Annual Ride for Awareness! Jane England,WSW
