2nd Annual Bras for a Cause was a Great Success!

Bras for a Cause
Women Supporting Women Event a Success

Nearly 100 businesses, groups, and individuals participated in the 2nd Annual Bras for a Cause, a unique competition to help Women Supporting Women (WSW), a grass-roots local non-profit breast cancer support organization. “The talent that poured out of our folks here on the shore was amazing. Every time an entry came in the door, our staff stopped what they were doing to ‘Oooh’ and ‘Ahhh’,” said Sue Revelle, Executive Director of WSW. “The best part was the number of people who stopped by our table at the Centre at Salisbury, called, or came by our office to share their story, or receive services. This event started as an awareness campaign, and we succeeded in making more people aware of the importance of breast health. We were also able to reach and serve more survivors in more places here on Delmarva, and that’s a win for everybody.”

The winning didn’t stop there, however, as the event brought in over $11,000 for the non-profit organization. The overall top fundraiser was an aptly entry titled “Treasure Chest”. Its team of creators, called It’s a Family Thing, brought in over $1,500 alone. Says WSW’s Director of Fund Development, Carlos Mir, “Thanks to the partnership with the Centre at Salisbury, this event was simply awesome in every aspect… We can’t wait to do it again next year!”

I grew up on the west side of the county and I knew the Lappe's quite well.  I can't even imagine how many youngsters she taught to dance over the years.  Not only did she teach dance she taught core values such as teamwork and respect for others.  She is sadly missed.
